The damage we’re doing to our children — and ourselves
Published in The Conversation, 2018
In this article, I examine how societal pressures, parenting norms, and institutional practices damage children’s emotional and psychological well-being. I argue that by disciplining children into conformity and suppressing their authenticity, we perpetuate cycles of harm that rebound onto adults and society. I call for a rethinking of how we raise and educate children, emphasizing nurturing environments that protect rather than repress.
