World War Three is being waged in cyberspace
Published in The Conversation, 2017
Here I describe how cyberspace has become the battleground for a new world war. Nation-states and corporations deploy cyberattacks, disinformation campaigns, and surveillance systems to destabilize opponents and control populations. Unlike traditional wars, this one is fought quietly, in networks and servers, yet it carries profound risks for democracy and human freedom. I argue that recognizing this digital war is the first step toward building resilience and defending open societies.
